30 detained for attacking Jaipal Reddy's convoy

Over 30 persons were taken into custody at two different places by police when they tried to stop the convoy of Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, S Jaipal Reddy, and State Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy who were on their way to Gangirala village in Rangareddy district of Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday.

Colonel S Madhav Perumal, who died in a landmine blast triggered by militants in Assam two days ago was cremated with full military honors in Hyderabad in the presence of hundreds of mourners including the army men.The last rites took place amid gun salute as wreaths were laid on behalf of different units of army and the state government.

After much delay Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy forwarded the resignation letters to the governor ESL Narasimhan, who immediately accepted it.
